Travel Filmmaking & Documentary Travel Films
No sales pitch. No polish. Just the feeling of being there.
Check out a few sneak previews of some of the Travel Projects we have in production now. Dash Hound Media creates authentic travel filmmaking projects and documentary travel films that capture real places, cultures and people. Every journey is filmed with a focus on honest storytelling rather than traditional tourism.
We aim to make our travel films the opposite of ‘typical’ travel content. There are no hotel tours, no ‘set up’ shots of plush rooms or suites, no “top 10 things to do” and absolutely no brand tie-ins. Just a camera (actually, a few different cameras!) a destination, and what it feels like to be there; the good, the bad, the beautiful, and the real, a story told through video and stills because sometimes, a photograph conveys even more than a moving image can.
We go to well-known cities and off-grid gems, sharing impressions rather than itineraries. Our goal isn’t to show you everything in detail, it’s to give you a taste, a vibe, and maybe a gentle nudge to go and experience it for yourself, or at least to learn more
But to be honest: the word "travel" is doing a lot of work here. While the Dash Hound is certainly a passionate traveller, we use the term quite liberally. ‘Travel’ can mean many things, a physical journey, yes, but also a shift in perspective, a new way of seeing the familiar, or simply the act of sharing an idea. So, as we expand our library, you’ll see some diverse topics, destinations and places of course but a host of other things too, from modes of transport to the foods we love, which is also a good way to ‘travel’, and more.
We understand that what one person sees as an exotic destination might just be boring old home to someone else. Some of our most interesting films haven’t involved long-haul flights at all, just shorter journeys closer to home, where the story lies not in the distance travelled, but in the way we looked at it.

Malaysia holds a remarkable diversity of wildlife, and the Borneo pygmy elephant is among its most distinctive species. Endangered and found only on the island of Borneo, they are difficult to locate in dense rainforest, so this was travel documentary work measured in patience. The wait repaid us. Watching these gentle animals move through their own habitat was an experience we'll remember for a very long time.
We film in well-known cities and off-grid corners alike, sharing impressions rather than itineraries. Our travel documentary films aren’t there to show you everything in detail, they’re there to give you a taste, a vibe, and maybe a gentle nudge to go and experience it for yourself, or at least to learn more.
India is full of places most visitors never get to see, and Vrindavan might be one of them. Best known for its extraordinary Holi celebrations, the town becomes a riot of colour, music and tradition unlike anywhere else. This short Dash Hound taster offers just a glimpse of that atmosphere. It's an experience that's hard to describe – and even harder to forget.
We carry a wide range of equipment to capture the spirit of the places we visit. From broadcast-quality cameras and action cameras to drones and, occasionally, even a mobile phone, the choice depends on the circumstances and on what serves the documentary storytelling best. Drones let our travel videography reveal a landscape from a perspective you rarely get on the ground, but we only fly where it's both legal and safe to do so.

Lake Malawi isn't as well known as some other African destinations, and that's a big part of its charm. Crystal-clear water, wildlife above and below the surface, and a pace of life all its own. This short Dash Hound taster is a colourful glimpse of a place every bit as memorable as it is beautiful, cinematic storytelling built from what was actually there.
